2024 COLLECTION: PRODUCTION DESIGN
This module introduces students to the fundamental elements and principles of design and how they apply to the creation of sets, costumes, and props for ‘live’ performance.
Students learn to navigate the different phases of the design process to understand how sets, costumes, and props are conceptualised and created in the industry. They are introduced to a range of design tools that support the visualisation and realisation of creative ideas.
The module provides an overview of industry-standard processes and prototype design methods used in theatre, events, and other ‘live’ performance contexts.
The Silence of Kittens By Olivia Yu
For this module, we were provided with the script The Silence of Kittens by Olivia Yu. Through an in-depth analysis of the play, we developed renderings, props, and a scale model that visually interpreted the narrative. We were then required to present and justify our design decisions, articulating the reasoning behind the artistic direction taken in our work.
