SPARKS DAY 2019
Sparks Day was a school-wide showcase where students were grouped to present their learning from the semester’s PASSION module. The PASSION module assigns students to different sectors such as Arts, STEM, and Health, where they develop a project centred on a specific theme. Over the semester, we conceptualised and executed our project before presenting and pitching our key message to a wider audience.
In my first semester of secondary school, I presented under the Health sector on raising awareness of mental health among youths. Together with my team, we highlighted the increasing prevalence of mental health challenges and shared practical coping strategies. To make the message engaging and accessible, we distributed stress balls and motivational bookmarks while interacting with the audience to encourage open conversations.
This experience not only deepened my awareness of an important societal issue, but also strengthened my confidence in public speaking. It gave me the opportunity to present and pitch our project to both the Principal and Vice-Principal, further developing my ability to communicate ideas clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
